grieving

i finally found the courage to visit your grave
maybe it wasn’t courage
maybe it was fear that lead me through the graveyard
fear of forgetting
fear of an afterthought

your mother planted flowers where you sleep
i cried over them
hope pulling on my sleeve, whispering
they will grow
instantly
in front of my eyes
but it is just wet dirt and leaves
and i can’t seem to find you anywhere

visit my dreams once in a while
tell me where you are
i haven’t stopped looking
